Since retiring from his advertising agency in 1977, Goodloe Stuck has devoted most of his time to researching and writing about the social and cultural history of Northwest Louisiana. He has tried to define the distinctive character of the people and their institutions and has explored the influences which formed that character.

The native of Jonesboro, Arkansas, spent his early adult years in New York, New England, and Texas. During World War II he served with the combat engineers in Europe and, at the end of the war, with military government in Korea before moving to Shreveport. Here he found the historical and cultural quarry that challenges the researcher and has accepted that challenge.

Stuck’s previously published books are Annie McCunne-Shreveport Madam and Heritage Scrapbook of Northwest Louisiana. He was assistant editor of Baily Thomson’s Historic Shreveport and contributed over two hundred articles on the cultural history of Northwest Louisiana to The [Shreveport] Times. Stuck and his wife, Martha, and their poodle, Cocoa, make their home in Shreveport.
