John Foster Dulles and Christian A. Herter
Among the most complete documentary records of American foreign
policy during the Cold War are the files of the Eisenhower State Department,
especially the papers of John Foster Dulles (Secretary of State, 1953-1959)
and Christian A. Herter (Undersecretary of State, 1957-1959; Secretary
of State, 1959-1961). The files offer a source of primary data on
the formation and implementation of American foreign policy in the
Eisenhower years.

the Eisenhower administration. Included are Cabinet briefing materials,
official memoranda and correspondence, working papers prepared for
White House use, and State Department drafts of and comments on presidential
correspondence and speeches.
